| Who they are: A "pirate-like" tribe found high in the Kandul Mountains. They have ties with the current mistress of Pendragon Manor...
History: This vicious tribe is found in their secret hideaway on Mount Vespeth along the Kandul Mountain range. Legend has it that Sergio Pendragon formed it in order to have a form of “Robin Hood” feel to it. He secretly did not agree with the way the Lionhearts were dealing with the poverty of the nation. This, of course, passed with the coming of the new king. Now, the Blue Scorpion is known as pirates. Stealing mostly what they need: whether it be “hostages” (in the hopes of turning them into Blue Scorpions) or even cattle. They will always have a form of doing it.
Traditions: Despite their thought that the man provided for their family, women were held up on a pedestal for them. They are the bringers of life and when pregnant, she shall be treated as a queen. When the Blue Scorpion children are of age (boys at nineteen become men, girls turn 'women' at their first bleeding) they are branded with the Blue Scorpion mark. Stinger Stone is the flat, vast rock where sacrifices, matrimonies, and indeed, maturity passings took place. Boys were branded on the chest as a sign of bravery. Girls were branded on the lower back (see, they can’t be branded on the stomach because they are expected to bear children.) Blue Scorpion couples are bonded together for life. There is no form of divorce in their culture (think penguins) and a family of seven children or more was considered a happy, healthy family.
Domestic Jobs: •Sages (High Council): The tribe’s elders and decision makers. •Monks: thos who are educated in the Blue Scorpion ways and are depended upon to teach their knowledge and culture to the youngsters. •Hunters: Can also be raiders. They are the suppliers of food. •Midwives: Women who help new mothers take care of their children. They normally travel in groups and many barren Scorpion women become these •Raiders: Those who go on towns and take needed supplies •Weavers: Those who make the Blue Scorpion’s famous dyed blue garments. They also make blue tattoos, beads, and hairstyles to honor the color of their scorpion. •Pastors: Those who take care of wildlife. This task is often given to an adolescent. •Dancers: Shall we say…”entertainers” of the Blue Scorpion and perhaps the most dangerous of women. They dance to the point that the men watching fall into a trance and allow them to steal whatever object on them. Dancers often accompany secretive Raiders when going on the town. •Warriors: Those bloodthirsty, frightening men and women who accompany the raiders and wreck most of the havoc and mayhem. Their job mostly consists of protecting the tribe.
Magic/Weapons/Techniques: •They use the Illusionary Arts and can make others hallucinate, fall into trances, and move within shadows undetected. •The Blue Scorpion prides itself with its (excuse the pun) stinging fighting skills. They are swift and almost unbeatable. Their sword arts are only taught to other Blue Scorpions. The scimitar being their preferred sword, no one out of the tribe can fight like they can. •The Blue Scorpion has one of the most highly and magically advanced tracking technique. They plant hidden symbols on the ground which would recognize the person who the tribe sought. When their victim passed over the symbol, a shadow would immerge from it, trap him, and take him back to Mt. Vespeth.
Laws: •If any Blue Scorpion runs away from their tribe, they will be found, brought back, and asked to make a choice. Join them or die. They cannot allow a rogue Blue Scorpion run amuck and accidentally spill their whereabouts and fighting techniques. •All Scorpion women must marry and bear children. Those who refuse will either be forced into marriage or die. •All executions will take place on the Stinging Stone. |
